Munshid & Percussion Workshops
Learn to recite the Mawlid and sing Qasidah in our Munshid Workshop, or discover the rhythms of darbuka and tambourine in our Percussion Workshop.
Rhythm, adab and purpose.
Our workshops introduce children to the tradition of Mawlid and Qasidah gatherings. From the fundamentals of reciting the Mawlid and singing devotional poetry to playing the darbuka and tambourine, children learn how voices and rhythms come together in a gathering. Each stage develops their skills alongside discipline, adab and an understanding of the gathering they are supporting.
As they practise reciting, singing or playing, children develop attentiveness, confidence and coordination. They learn to listen to one another, follow a shared pace and contribute with care, whether as part of a singing group or a percussion ensemble.
A journey through three levels.
Begin with the foundations.
Munshid: A gentle introduction to reciting the Mawlid and singing Qasidah. In a supportive group, children learn to feel comfortable sharing their voice, move beyond shyness at their own pace and build the confidence to be heard. We begin with clear pronunciation, breathing and simple melodies.
Percussion: An introduction to darbuka and tambourine, basic beats, rhythm patterns and the discipline of playing together.
Learn to come together.
Munshid: Build on the foundations through steadier pitch, breath control, phrasing and timing. Practise reciting and singing together, listening closely and following a shared melody.
Percussion: Develop coordinated rhythms, timing and shared arrangements, learning to listen and play confidently as an ensemble.
Prepare to perform.
For children who have completed Level 2 in their workshop pathway.
Munshid: Develop expression, vocal confidence and more advanced Mawlid recitation and Qasidah arrangements, with the adab and readiness to sing at gatherings.
Percussion: Develop more advanced rhythms and arrangements, teamwork and the readiness to accompany Mawlid and Qasidah gatherings.
Munshid and Percussion are separate learning pathways, each progressing through three levels. Progression follows the child's preparation and the requirements of the chosen pathway. The upcoming intakes are Level 1.
Learn, grow and contribute.
Munshid Workshop welcomes boys aged 6 to 12 and girls aged 6 to 9. Percussion Workshop welcomes boys and girls aged 7 to 12. Beginners start with Level 1 in their chosen workshop; higher levels build on the skills learned in that pathway.
Selected participants may be invited to contribute through recitation, Qasidah singing or percussion at Relite’s monthly Mawlid and other events. After completing Level 3 in their pathway, children may be considered for Relite Qasidah Club membership, with opportunities to perform on larger stages at venues such as Suntec City and Singapore Expo, as well as at masjids and community gatherings.
Upcoming workshops.
Both workshops take place at Victory Centre, 110 Lorong 23 Geylang, #05-05, Singapore 388410.

View workshop terms and conditions
These terms apply to all Relite SG workshops, administered by Revamp Enrichment Centre. For children, a parent or legal guardian must book and agree to these terms.
1. Booking and payment
Please check the workshop listing for its schedule, fees, venue and eligibility requirements, and provide accurate participant and contact details. A place is confirmed only after registration is complete and full payment succeeds.
2. Cancellations, absence and transfers
- Confirmed bookings are non-refundable for participant cancellations, absence, late arrival or early withdrawal. Make-up sessions are not guaranteed.
- For illness or emergencies, contact us promptly. Refund or credit exceptions are considered individually and are not guaranteed. Any credit’s value, expiry and eligible programmes will be agreed in writing.
- You may transfer the entire booking to another eligible participant at no charge. Email us at least 3 working days before the first session, with the replacement’s details and agreement to these terms; for a child, their parent or guardian must agree. Transfers require Relite’s written confirmation and may be declined if eligibility, consent, information or safety requirements are not met. Working days exclude weekends and Singapore public holidays.
3. Changes or cancellations by Relite
If we cancel the whole workshop before it starts, you receive a full refund. If we cancel or reschedule a session, you may accept a replacement or receive a refund for the affected undelivered session. This also applies to public health restrictions or emergencies; credit is optional.
Session refunds use the session price stated at booking, or an equal share of the workshop fee if no separate prices were stated, capped at the amount paid. Refunds return to the original payment method where possible; bank processing times vary. We will notify you of changes as soon as reasonably possible.
4. Attendance and safety
For children’s workshops, non-participants cannot remain in the teaching room unless the listing allows it or we agree beforehand. Arrive 10 minutes early, arrange safe handover with staff and collect children promptly. Notify us if another adult will collect your child. Supervision covers workshop hours within the designated venue.
We take reasonable care for participants’ safety. For a child’s illness or injury, staff may provide first aid and seek emergency medical assistance while contacting their parent or guardian as soon as reasonably possible. Ordinary medical costs are the parent’s responsibility, subject to Relite’s legal obligations. Nothing excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
5. Health, support and conduct
Stay home if feverish, contagious or too unwell to participate safely. Before booking, contact us privately about relevant allergies, medical conditions or additional support needs; do not enter medical information into the payment form. We will discuss suitable arrangements. If we cannot support safe participation, we will explain and refund undelivered sessions.
Treat others respectfully. Bullying, abuse and unsafe behaviour may lead to exclusion. We normally work with the participant and, for a child, their parent to resolve concerns, but may act immediately for safety. Any conduct-related refund is considered individually and under applicable law.
6. Photos and personal data
Promotional photos, videos and marketing messages require separate optional permission. Agreeing to these terms does not give that permission, and declining it does not affect enrolment. Contact us to withdraw permission for future promotional use.
We use participant and parent details for bookings, payments, attendance, safety and essential communications. Necessary information may be shared with providers such as Stripe and Squarespace, or authorities and emergency services where required or permitted by law. We do not sell personal data and retain it only as needed for these purposes and legal or business requirements. Contact us for data questions, access, corrections or consent withdrawal; we will explain if withdrawal affects our ability to provide the workshop.
7. Questions and applicable terms
The terms accepted at booking apply; future website changes do not automatically alter existing bookings. Material changes will be communicated separately. These terms do not limit rights under Singapore law.
For cancellations, transfers, refunds or other questions, email contact@relite.sg, quoting the workshop and participant’s name.
